At present, the ten categories on the list of representative items of China's intangible cultural heritage are: folk literature, traditional music, traditional dance, traditional drama, folk art, traditional sports, entertainment and acrobatics, traditional art, traditional skills, traditional medicine, and folk customs.

民间文学（Folk literature）
是指民众在生活文化和生活世界里传承、传播、共享的 口头传统和语辞艺术。从文类上来说，包括神话﹑史诗、民间传说﹑民间故事、民间歌谣﹑民间叙事、民间小戏﹑说唱文学﹑谚语﹑谜语、曲艺等。如在汉民族广泛流传的《梁山伯与祝英台》、《牛郎织女》的故事等。
It refers to the oral tradition and speech art that people inherit, spread and share in the living culture and the living world. In terms of genre, it includes myths, epics, folklore, folk stories, folk ballads, folk narratives, folk plays, rap literature, proverbs, riddles, folk art and so on. For example, the stories of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and the Cowher and the Weaver Girl are widely circulated in the Han nationality.

是各族人民在长期社会生活过程中，集体创造出来的一种广泛流传于民间和上层社会、深受人们喜爱的传统的 音乐艺术表现形式。
